SEMESTER EXTRA CREDIT

You can complete as many of the following EXTRA CREDIT opportunities that you would like to make up for a missed assignment or to raise your grade on an assignment you already completed.

TOPICS
  1. Rotation & Revolution
  2. Seasons
  3. Solstices & Equinoxes
  4. Phases of the Moon
  5. Eclipses
  6. Tides
You must complete ALL of the following parts (Vocabulary, Summary, Diagram, Questions and Oral Defense) of as many TOPICS (Rotation/Revolution, Seasons, Solstice/Equinox, Phases of the Moon, Eclipses & tides) as you like.

You can put all of this information into any form that you like to present it to me; book, newspaper, paper, poster, blog entry, PowerPoint, video, etc...

For each of the following topics, you must complete the following:
  1. Vocabulary: construct a chart including the word, your native language and definition of each related word in the topic
  2. Summary: write a paragraph summarizing the main ideas of the topic; MUST include ALL of the vocabulary from the topic
  3. Diagram(s): illustrate a detailed diagram(s) describing all of the vocabulary words from the topic, label the parts of the diagram(s)
  4. Questions: create 10 quiz questions about this topic
  5. **Oral Defense: defend your knowledge of the topic by answering a series of related questions on the topic and get teacher approval on the work
** YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THE TOPIC FOR CREDIT; No credit will be awarded if you do not PASS the Oral Defense**

Starry, Starry Night Extra Credit

EXTRA CREDIT #1 (10 points)
Go to this website:
  • Choose a video to watch
  • Watch the movie
  • Now watch it again, take notes on the main points and vocabulary words
  • Write a summary of the video in one paragraph
EXTRA CREDIT #2 (10 points)
Star Box
  • Paint or color the inside of shoe box black.
  • Draw the constellation inside on the back of the box
  • Place glow-in-the-dark stickers on the constellation OR poke holes through the box and add christmas lights
  • Do a short write up summarizing the story/myth of your constellation to add onto the box

Students worked individually in heterogenous table groups to complete this Menu Project. There were 4 layers the students were required to complete including a final presentation of their work.
